About:

Alan Avery Art Company will mount an exhibition of works by Nobuhito Nishigawara and Tianxing Xu. The similarities yet different approaches of these two artists is echoed by the obvious quick reference in the exhibition title.

The exhibition will feature returning artist Nobuhito Nishigawara, born in Nagoya, Japan, returning for his second exhibition. He is an internationally renowned ceramicist sculpture artist. Nishigawara's recent series, "Artificial Nature," constructs a framework for exploring ideas and interpretations rooted in the Japanese concept of "MA," signifying the space between or emptiness. Within this series, ambiguity is harnessed as a powerful tool, inviting viewers to engage in a personal journey of reflection and interpretation. Nishigawara exhibits his sculptures both locally and nationally.

Recently signed, Tianxing Xu is a painter originally from Shanghai, China, and is a recent M.F.A. graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah, Georgia. Tianxing Xu presents a collection of paintings, prints, and artist’s books that serve as architectural plans for an imaginative amusement park. Tianxing Xu explores the concept of actualization, rendering objects and spaces as distorted, blurred, and fragments, constructing chaos with absolute order. Centered on themes of regret, unfulfilled promises, and a palpable sense of distance, the personal struggles woven into Tianxing Xu's artworks remain private and indescribable.

In this exhibition, viewers can compare the difference between self-exploration and a journey through two cultural lenses.
