About:
“Imprints of Connection" is a public performance which culminates in a semi-permanent earth artwork. Collaborating with the local dirt bike group, atlbikelife, Emmanuel Massillon will utilize the marks left by their tire tracks to etch an elaborate design on the land. This installation draws inspiration from African fractals, widely used in African indigenous architecture and design, as well as the conspiracies surrounding UFO crop circles. The performance and resulting earth work will serve as a potent symbol of community, resilience, and self-expression in Atlanta.
About Emmanuel Massillon: a conceptual artist who works in several different mediums, including painting, photography, performance, and sculpture. His visuals have been inspired by many genres of African-American music, such as jazz, R&B, and rap, which Massillon believes to be one of the main preserves of Black culture in America. The materials used in his work vary from bullet shells to dirt, wood, and other found objects that act as an expression of his perception of the world by using materials from his own environment and cultural history. UTA Fine Arts announced its representation of Emmanuel in fall 2022, and this will be his first solo presentation with UTA Artist Space.
